Rehabilitation in Hand Surgery, 15 ECTS, 2017

The course content and set-up aims to enable specialised studies at an advanced level (A). It can be used towards a Masters exam in one of the main fields of Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy. The course recognises components of health according to the conceptual model of the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health – ICF (WHO) and adopts a biopsychosocial perspective. An international faculty has designed the course from an evidence-based perspective. It focuses both on hand rehabilitation as an inter-professional subject area, as well as on current research and development within the field. Subjects dealt with are: Functional anatomy, Specific examination-evaluation and documentation methods within hand rehabilitation, Rehabilitation following injuries and diseases which affect hand/arm function and which can cause limitations in the individual’s ability to be active and participate. Specific sections are devoted to multi-trauma, amputation injuries, peripheral nerve injuries and plexus injuries, tendon injuries, arthritis, fractures, joint injuries, hand diseases, post-operative pain problems and cumulative trauma disorders/repetitive strain disorders, methods of treatment in hand surger.

Includes completion of individual assignments as well as active participation. 75% attendance is required in order to pass the course. In the case of absence, individual written assignments and mandatory assignments must be completed.

Zielgruppe

A degree in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy - or Medical Science credits which are equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree (18090 credits with 15 credits in project work), or the same level of qualification in Medical Science. Specific entry qualifications are applied for documented clinical experience in work at a hand surgery unit.
